US Airways and American Airlines merge Terminals at O'Hare

US Airways and American Airlines merge terminals at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago. This will enable both the airlines offer departures from one terminal.

Prior to this merging, US Airways was operating from Terminal 2 and American Airlines was operating from Terminal 3 at O’Hare International Airport. From July 1, US Airways flights will depart from Terminal 3 together with AA flights.

As of now the ticket counter of US Airways will still be functional from Terminal 2, and will be shifted to Terminal 3 later this year. Therefore, US Airways passengers who need access to ticket counters for services like boarding passes or baggage check, must do the same at Terminal 2 and walk to the departure gates on H concourse of Terminal 3. This will increase their walking time by approximately four-minutes. For those passengers who do not require services from ticket counter can directly check in from Terminal 3. This will help passengers avoid extra walk.

A spokeswoman of American Airline said that they are working towards increasing the staff and enhancing the signage. This will aid US airline passengers and they will not have trouble while boarding from terminal 3. She further added that all operations of US Airways will be merged at Terminal 3 by September or October of 2014. Till that time passengers need to check in from Terminal 2 for ticket-counter service.
