Virgin Atlantic launching daily London-Detroit flights June 1

Virgin Atlantic Airways recently announced it will be launching its direct flights to Detroit. The daily service will be operated from London Heathrow Airport effective from June 1, 2015. The airline will be deploying an Airbus A330-300 aircraft, configured in three classes, to conduct flights on the route.

Virgin Atlantic Airways will now become the only British carrier to provide direct flights services to Detroit International Airport. The airline had earlier indicated its plan to offer direct flights to the famous Motor City in the United States last year.

Providing details about the flight schedule, the airline said that the outbound Flight VI107 will depart from London Heathrow at 1010 hours and arrive in Detroit at 1315 hours. The return Flight VS108 will makes its departure from Detroit at 1750 hours and reach London Heathrow at 0625 hours the next day. The new London Heathrow-Detroit route is part of the Virgin Atlantic Airways’ transatlantic partnership with Delta Air Lines.

Meanwhile, in yet another development Virgin Atlantic Airways has stopped its flights to Tokyo Narita and Mumbai earlier in Jan-Feb this year. Apart from canceling its Tokyo Narita and Mumbai services, the airline is also planning several route changes including launch of five additional transatlantic flights in 2015.

While the airline is all set to launch its direct flights between Detroit and London Heathrow, it has also indicated that it will be introducing additional flights to Atlanta, Los Angeles and New York JFK.

Virgin Atlantic Airways said that it will be launching a second seasonal service from London Heathrow to Atlanta and start additional daily flights between London Heathrow and San Francisco during the summer season.
