Virgin Australia introduces new business class suites

Virgin Australia recently announced it will be introducing its new business class suites for its fleet of Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 aircrafts. The move of the airline is aimed at offering customers opportunity to travel in business class cabins equipped with a fully-flat bed and direct aisle access for the first time.

The airline in a statement said that the new business class seats would be installed on its Airbus A330 aircrafts between March and August 2015. The airline’s Boeing 777 aircrafts will see similar cabins installed from November 2015 to early 2016. The customers traveling on either of the aircrafts would be offered more storage space and larger in-flight entertainment screens.

Media reports said that Virgin Australia’s new business class suites would be vigorously competing with Qantas Airways’ new business class suites on its Airbus A330 aircrafts on transcontinental routes. The reports said that Qantas Airways will be installing the new cabins on its A330 fleet to be operated on domestic as well as international routes from December 2014. 

According to Virgin Australia, the number of business class seats on Airbus A330 aircrafts will now be reduced to 20 from the existing 24 because of the new changes to a 1-2-1 configuration with an 80 inch bed.

The airline will be providing the similar product on its Boeing 777 aircrafts, which are now being used for conducting flights to Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi. The new changes will now see the number of business class seats being increased to 27 from the existing 24. Virgin Australia will also be installing a redesigned bar on Boeing 777 aircrafts.
