Virgin Australia upgrades Coast to Coast flights, operate Airbus A330-only service
Virgin Australia recently announced it has upgraded its Melbourne-Perth ‘Coast to Coast’ flights. The airline in a statement said that Virgin Australia flights on Melbourne-Perth route would now be operated as an exclusively Airbus A330-only service from September this year.
The airline further stated that the passengers would be able to book Virgin Australia flights tickets on Sydney-Perth route also as the service is all set to move to an all-A330 schedule from next year.
John Borghetti, CEO of Virgin Australia, said that the flights services on Sydney-Perth route will however depend on the delivery of a sixth new Airbus A330 aircraft in the first half of 2013.
The airline said that Boeing 737-800 aircrafts are smaller in comparison to Airbus A330 aircrafts. The Airbus A330 aircrafts have a capacity to carry 280 passengers, which are 100 seats more than the existing Boeing 737 aircrafts. The Airbus A330 aircrafts are expected to boost the capacity on the popular cross-country route.
