Aerolineas Argentinas becomes first South American carrier to join SkyTeam
Argentina’s national flag carrier Aerolineas Argentinas recently became the first South American carrier to join the global airline alliance SkyTeam.
SkyTeam has welcomed Aerolineas Argentinas as its 18th member. The global airline alliance said that it would continue to focus on exploring growth opportunities on the South American continent.
With joining the SkyTeam as its first South American member, Aerolineas Argentinas flights will now be operated to 40 new destinations on the SkyTeam network.
Currently, Aerolineas Argentinas serves 52 destinations in 14 countries from its two hubs at Buenos Aires. The airline also offers Aerolineas Argentinas flights tickets to 35 domestic destinations within Argentina.
The airline operates flights to some of the famous tourist destinations in Argentina, including the spectacular Iguazu falls, industrial centers of Rosario and Cordoba, world-renowned wine producing region of Mendoza, and the Patagonian capital of Ushuaia.
Michael Wisbrun, Managing Director of Sky Team, said that the global airline alliance is extremely pleased to welcome Aerolineas Argentinas as its member, which would provide Argentinean customers greater access to the worldwide network of SkyTeam.
