Alitalia to introduce tablets on its flights

Italy’s national flag carrier Alitalia recently announced it has put in place a renewal strategy aimed boosting revenues. The airline in a statement said that customers booking Alitalia flights tickets would now be offered tablets on board their flights as part of additional services.

Andrea Ragnetti, CEO of Alitalia, said that the airline would provide a tablet to each passenger while onboard their Alitalia flights. He said that the product being implemented by the airline is a part of its renewal strategy.

Ragnetti said that this is surely a new way to boost revenues by providing the additional services. He said that this was significant for the airline to make it cash-rich instead of cash-strapped.

According to Alitalia, the new tool is likely to make its debut in the spring of 2013. The tablets would also be made available to the passengers traveling in domestic destinations.

Apart from providing tablets, Alitalia is also working on several fronts and has several plans under consideration so that the airline returns to profitability again.
