Asiana amends flight number on Seoul-SFO route

Asiana Airlines, one of the primary airlines in South Korea has announced its decision to change the flight number on Seoul-San Francisco route. This announcement is a direct impact of the tragedy that hit the airline in July.

The airline has changed the flight number departing from Seoul to 212. Earlier this flight was operating as Flight 214. Similarly, passengers flying on Asiana Airlines tickets from San Francisco will now board Flight 211 instead of 213.

This news was confirmed by the airline spokesperson Suh Ki-Won. He said that the motive of this juggle is to change the mindset of people who still remember what happened to Flight 214 the other day. He explained that the airline didn’t want the customers to carry forward that image while traveling with it.

Asiana Airlines was formerly known as Seoul Airline. It along with Korean Air dominates the aviation market in South Korea operating flights to 14 domestic and 90 international destinations. It is a member of the Star Alliance. Its headquarters are based in Asiana Town, Seoul. At present, the airline is the official member of the South Korean football team.
