China Airlines enter into codeshare pact with Garuda Indonesia
Taiwan’s national carrier China Airlines recently signed a codeshare agreement with Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia.
Apart from codesharing, both the carriers will also cooperate with each other in cargo operations and promotional activities to boost traffic between the two countries.
Garuda Indonesia president director Emirsyah Satar and China Airline’s president, Huang-Hsiang Sun signed the MoU in Bali recently.
Under the codeshare partnership, Garuda Indonesia code will now be able to be put on China Airlines flights. Similarly, China Airlines will also be putting its code on Garuda Indonesia flights.
China Airlines will be able to apply Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) on Garuda Indonesia’s Jakarta to regional areas flights, as well as domestic routes in Indonesia. Garuda Indonesia is also entitled to apply SPA on routes served by it to Taipei and beyond, such as other destinations in Asia, including Japan and the U.S.
The new codesharing pact will also help in adding new routes in the future. These routes include Surabaya-Hong Kong-Taipei, Surabaya-Singapore-Taipei and Denpasar-Hong Kong-Taipei.
