Cheap Flights to Bangalore

Mar 13, 2012

Bengaluru, the Garden City that’s blooming into a conurbation of glass and steel is a blend of tradition and modern; get the best of both here.
Bengaluru, or Bangalore is a city of contradictions. Modern glass and steel buildings compete with old palatial architecture, vast green spaces and lakes lie next to huge apartment complexes and the city’s border keeps stretching out to new horizons to keep up with the growing IT population.
When you book your flights to Bangalore, get some inside knowledge about the city to avoid wasting your time as well as money.

Cheap Flights To Bangalore
While several websites advertise unbelievably attractive cheap tickets to Bangalore, it’s important to check the terms and conditions before purchasing cheap tickets especially if yours is a long haul flight. Most budget carriers charge outrageous amounts for necessities like allowing baggage and seat allocation. As far as domestic flights are concerned, cheap tickets to Bangalore are available from almost all major cities in India.

One factor to note here is, when you book your airline tickets to Bangalore, make sure to book a cab too since the airport is 35 kms away from the city. Bangalore also has a reliable network of buses from the airport to different parts of the city; just check out the BMTC timetable to find out which bus to take after you get off your flights.

Where To Stay
There are several economy hotels as well as superior hotels in and around Bangalore. If you don’t want a crowded place, take your pick from a choice of boutique hotels or serviced apartments in Bangalore, but be prepared to pay more. If you are planning to visit the plantation areas, about 200 kms from Bangalore, you could have a very pleasant stay at one of the many home stays there.

Bangalore For Tourists
If you are a typical tourist, the main sites to visit in Bangalore include the Lalbagh Gardens, Tipu Sultan’s Palace, HAL aerospace Museum, Visvesvarayya Museum and the Bull Temple. Mavalli Tiffen Rooms or MTR is a well known restaurant serving tasty vegetarian fare that’s usually visited by all tourists.  The ISCKON temple is another much visited attraction in Bangalore. This cosmopolitan city has several malls that offer great shopping; however, if you are interested in bargain hunting, Commercial Street is the place to go. The Bannerghatta National Park is a great place to take children to.

Off The Beaten Path
If you have covered the usual attractions, here are a few ideas that are favored more by locals in Bangalore than tourists.
•    The Eat Street – This is a street full of vegetarian food stalls that offer inexpensive, steaming hot food. You won’t find a place to sit here, but the food served here is fresh and delicious.
•    Explore the caves at Savandurga and Siddharbetta.
•    The Ulsoor Lake and Lumbini Gardens are pleasant places to visit with activities for children too.
•    Visit Chanapatna, about 60 kms from Bangalore; this place is famous for its colorful wooden toys and handicrafts.
•    Pack your picnic baskets and visit the Shivanusamudra falls, about 140 kms from Bangalore.

So book early to reserve cheap flights to Bangalore and get the best bang for your money.
