Finnair passenger traffic increases 5.7 percent in July

Finland’s national flag carrier recently announced its operational results for the month of July 2012. The airline sounded upbeat at the outcome stating that Finnair flights have showed strong growth.

The airline in a statement said that its passenger traffic (measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometers) increased 5.7 percent even as the overall capacity of the airline increased 2.7 percent y-o-y. The airline further disclosed that its passenger load factor also significantly improved by 2.4 percentage points to 84.5 percent.

Finnair said that its traffic grew in all sectors except on domestic front. According to the airline, its passenger traffic showed a remarkable growth in North Atlantic and Europe. The airline also said that Finnair flights tickets bookings showed improvement in Asian sector registering a growth of 2.6 percent y-o-y.

Erno Hildén, CFO of Finnair, said that the airline’s cabin load factors showed a notable improvement in all traffic in July this year. The airline’s load factor in Europe increased by nearly 7 percentage points.
