This festival is perhaps a peculiar one for the locals yet popular and highly awaited. This year it will be celebrated on November 1 and 2 with fun and vigor. This festival is also a highlight for the tourists visiting the city from different parts of the world. Many airlines including Aeromexico, American Airlines, United Airlines, Swissair, Air France and Delta Air Lines offer cheap flights to Cancun. Those interested in being a part of the festival can book with one of the airlines.

The festival is highlighted by its vibrant nature. It is in fact celebrated throughout Latin America to welcome the departed souls back home. It is marked with colorful and decorated altars, delicious food and flavorful drinks.

The family and friends of the dead gather at the grave of their loved ones. Together they clean and decorate the grave and offer food and drinks loved by the departed soul. The families also build private altars and create sugar skulls. They beautify these altars with marigold flowers, favorite food, beverages, gifts and other souvenirs once possessed by the dead.

Many tourists visit this part of the country especially to take part in this renowned festival. It is celebrated across the country as a national holiday.
