Jet Airways to merge its two low-fare brands

India’s largest private carrier Jet Airways recently announced that it is planning to merge its two low-fare brands under the JetKonnect brand from March 25, 2012. As a result, Jet Airways flights on its JetLite brand will no longer be available because it will disappear following its merger.

Jet Airways is taking the move as part of a strategic rebranding and rationalization initiative and to further simplify its service proposition and enhance brand recall.

The airline in a statement said that JetKonnect will be the dedicated low-fare service operating on Metro, Tier II and III routes with a mixed fleet of Boeing and ATR aircrafts. However, Jet Airways flights tickets will continue to be offered across domestic and international markets.

Jet Airways stated that as part of the rebranding exercise the aircraft will be painted in JetKonnect colors over time. The airline will also offer Premiere services on certain routes, offering the same product as Premiere passengers receive on Jet Airways services. The cockpit and cabin crew will also don the same uniform as their counterparts from Jet Airways.
