KLM to launch new business class on Accra flights

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced its decision to launch new business class seats on its Accra route. The airline has been serving the capital city of Ghana for the past 53 years. It plans to roll out the World Business Class on Accra flights in the first half of 2014.

The big European carrier has roped in Dutch designer Hella Jongerius to redesign its business class, which it has named World Business Class. The airline aims to offer its passengers supreme comforts like the ones they experience at home. These refurbished seats comprise Diamond full-flat seats, added storage apace, separate TV screens to grant more privacy, and meals from the kitchen of renowned chef Richard Ekkebus.

Axel Metselaar, Regional Manager Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone said that passengers booking KLM flights to Accra from next year onwards would get to feel the ultimate luxury of traveling business class. He said that at present, the airline is reinventing its business class on its fleet of 22 Boeing 747s. He added that the carrier has also planned to refurbish its fleet of 15 B777-200s during the summer of 2014.

The new seat designs in the business class are sustainable and are made up of qualitative fabrics. The airline has used recycled materials from discarded women’s uniforms to manufacture the in-flight carpets.

The carrier offers World Business Class seats on its flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tokyo, Houston, and Shanghai.
