Qantas Airways alliance with Emirates Airline may extend

Qantas Airways recently indicated that Emirates Airline has expressed its desire to extend the alliance between the two carriers across the Pacific Ocean.

The extending of the alliance would allow passengers booking Emirates Airline and Qantas Airways flights to fly around the world on Airbus SAS A380 aircrafts.

Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, said that both the carriers have the scope to link A380 Qantas Airways flights into Los Angeles with routes being sought by Emirates Airline from its Dubai hub.

Clark said that Emirates Airline would continue to push for the extension of the alliance into trans-Pacific routes only if the idea is strongly backed by Qantas Airways’ Chief Executive Officer Alan Joyce and the airline’s management.

The partnership between Qantas Airways and Emirates Airline has already won provisional approval from Australia’s antitrust regulator in December last year.
