Qantas Airways eyeing more joint Asian ventures

Passengers can expect more Qantas Airways flights to Asia in future. Qantas Airways recently expressed its desire that it wants to expand further into Asia through joint ventures.

The airline in a statement has warned the consumer watchdog to allow closer and effective coordination with Jetstar-branded airlines or else its pan-Asia strategy will be at stake. The airline wants to further expand its flight network to Asian destinations by forming joint ventures in Japan, Singapore and Vietnam.

Qantas Airways in its 61-page submission with the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission has sought the authorization of the Jetstar Joint Venture Co-ordination Agreement and said that failing which its huge order for 110 Airbus A320 aircrafts will be severely impacted. The order includes 78 efficient A320neos. 

The airline stated that the authorization of the agreement will help it effectively integrate the management of operational, procurement and commercial activities of the current as well as future Jetstar joint ventures.
