Qantas Airways increasing fares on international routes

Australia’s national flag carrier Qantas Airways recently announced its long-haul flights are soon going to see a fare hike. The airline in a statement said that Qantas Airways flights are going to be costlier.

According to the airline, Qantas Airways flight tickets would be increased by three percent on most of its international routes from Australia.
The airline stated that the increased fares would be applicable to all the tickets booked by customers on or after November 21, 2012.

Media reports quoted a spokesperson of Qantas Airways as saying that the airline continuously reviews its pricing on all its routes considering the capacity and demand, business performance and competitor activity.

The airline said that it perceives the current hike in fares as entirely reasonable in the present environment and hopes that these are sustainable. It also said that while increasing the fares it keeps customers as its priority and sees that they remain competitive.
