Atlanta-Istanbul nonstop service on Turkish Airlines’ agenda

Turkish Airlines, one of the prominent European airlines is keen on launching nonstop service between Atlanta and Istanbul. The airline intends to commence flights on the route at the first given opportunity. However, the airline is in no mood to rush through and it is not before 2017 or 2018 that its plans will materialize.

Luckily, for the airline, Turkey has an open skies agreement with the United States giving it an opportunity to launch a new service without any new regulatory battles. The airline had earlier announced its intention to launch flights on Boston-Istanbul route in May 2014. The airline offers business class tickets to passengers to several gateways in the U.S. including Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and Washington D.C. Some of the amenities offered include access to top-class airport lounges, savory meals and beverages, warm Turkish hospitality, an assortment of movies, music, games, and more as a part of the in-flight entertainment, and fully-flat bed seats.

The airline will however, have to seek license from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and receive a green signal from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection ahead of the launch of the new service. The airline believes that Atlanta is one of the most visited cities in the United States. Nonstop connections to the city from Istanbul would give travelers a chance to fly with ease and hassle-free. It also is hopeful that the route will churn out revenues and prove to be a profit-making route.
