Avianca and Taca Airlines report 11.3 percent increase in traffic

AviancaTaca Holding S.A., which operates Avianca and Taca Airlines, recently announced its passenger traffic results for the month of July this year.

The company in a statement said that Avianca, Taca Airlines and subsidiaries put up a remarkable performance and transported 2,066,936 passengers on board their flights in July 2012.

The company stated that there was an overall 11.3 percent increase in passenger traffic on its routes in July this year as compared to the same month in 2011. A total number of 1,857,633 passengers were transported in July 2011. The company also disclosed that the ASK capacity for the month increased by 11.7 percent.

While providing further details about the operational results, the company revealed that Avianca, Taca Airlines and subsidiaries reported a growth of 20.9 percent in passenger traffic in the domestic markets of Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in July 2012. According to the company, a total of 1,162,970 were ferried in July this year as compared to 961,943 in July 2011. The ASK capacity in these domestic markets grew by 28.8 percent.

The company further stated that a total number of 903,966 passengers were transported on international routes in July this year as compared to 895,690 passengers in July 2011. The ASK capacity in the international market increased by 8.3 percent.
