KLM to offer a la carte meals for Economy Class passengers

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines recently announced that it will offer a la carte meals option to its Economy Class passengers on intercontinental flights from Amsterdam.

The airline said that the passengers will have the option to order a la carte meals on intercontinental flights departing from Amsterdam. This option will be available along with KLM’s standard catering.

According to the airline, the passengers will be given a choice to order four different kinds of a la carte meals after paying a fee. They can avail this option on intercontinental flights starting September 14, 2011.

The menu will include a light Japanese meal called ‘Healthy Japanese’. Popular Italian dishes will be also a part of the menu named ‘Bella Italia’. Besides, a vegetarian meal as well as an Indonesian rice table accompanied with traditional dishes will be a part of the menu.

The prices of the a la carte meals range from US$17.23 to US$21.54. The passengers will be required to place orders for their gourmet meal 90 days to 48 hours prior to departure.
