Qantas Airlines increases airfares to offset fuel hike
Mar 26, 2011
Australian flagship carrier, Qantas Airlines recently announced the rise in airfares to cope up with the rising fuel prices.
The airline said that it will raise domestic and regional fares up to USD 10 per sector, and the Tasman airfares will be increased by 8 percent. The new fares will be applicable on the tickets issued after 31st March 2011.
The present oil price rise seems to be a treat and has threatened the airlines recovery.
"Since international fuel surcharges and domestic fares increased last month, jet fuel prices have increased by a further 15 per cent, to more than USD$134 per barrel today," said, Alan Joyce Chief Executive, Qantas.
