Qantas Airways resumes USA routes

Qantas Airways announced the resuming of A380 service between Australia and Los Angeles. The services will commence from 16th January 2011 from Melbourne to Los Angeles.

The suspension of the services was done due to the maximum engine thrust over the Australia-Los Angeles route, which led to the regular grounding of A 380 fleet and continued suspension of A380 flights. Besides, the suspension was done in order to monitor the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engine performance.

Qantas along with Rolls Royce, Airbus, European and Australian regulators conducted an extensive engineering analysis and after a complete satisfaction by the Qantas, Rolls Royce and Civil Aviation authorities the decisions of resuming the A380 services was made.

The airline also said that the inspection process will continue along with the gradual restoring of aircrafts over the routes.

A total of 14 A380 aircrafts will be operated per week over the following routes during the month of January.

From February the London–Los Angeles route service will be steadily increased as the new delivery will also join the resuming fleet.
