Qantas starts direct flights from Sydney to Dallas/Fort Worth

Australia’s flag carrier Qantas recently began direct flights from Sydney to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW). The inaugural flight QF7, operated by a Boeing 747 aircraft, departed from Sydney Airport at 13.25 local time on May 16, 2011 and arrived at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport at 13.50 local time the same day.
Flight QF8, the first inbound service, departed DFW at 22.00, and arrived in Brisbane at 05.00 on May 18, 2011, and flew onwards to Sydney, landing at 08.05. The flying time from Sydney to DFW is 15 hours 25 minutes, whereas the flying time from DFW to Brisbane is 16 hours.
Dallas/Fort Worth has become Qantas’ first new international destination since Buenos Aires in 2008. Initially, the service will operate four times per week, but will be expanded in the future.
Qantas, through its codeshare partnership with American Airlines, will offer services beyond DFW to 54 destinations in the United States, Canada and Mexico, including Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Washington, Toronto, Vancouver, Cancun and Mexico City.
