Qantas upgrades its frequent flyer scheme

The Australian flagship carrier Qantas will be upgrading its frequent flyer scheme by adding a new “Platinum One” tier to the existing one and is also increasing bonus points on Premium Economy, Business Class and First Class bookings. The airline will also increase Bonus status points for the Silver and Gold members. Qantas announced that the cabin bonus points for premium economy passengers will rise from 10 percent to 25 percent, while business class passengers will receive 25 percent to 50 percent hike in the bonus points. The first class passengers will be benefitted with an increase from 50 percent to 100 percent. The status bonus points will increase from 25 percent to 50 percent for the Silver card holders and the Gold cardholders will enjoy the increase from 50 percent to 100 percent. The members will also be able to earn more points on subsidiary Jetstar flights. Apart from the program enhancement the airline has also tied up with Australian telecom giant Optus that will help the members to earn points. The airline will introduce its new improved ‘Platinum One’ tier program from the fourth quarter of this year. The members who will cross the triple status credits will retain the level for Platinum tier status. The new status will give access to even more benefits and exclusive services, which will include a dedicated team to look after the travel needs of the passengers. The airline’s frequent flyer program was launched in 1987 and is now serving around 7.8 million members across the world.
