Qatar Airways on course to do away with First Class

Qatar Airways recently announced that first class cabins on its new aircrafts are unlikely now and will gradually become a thing of the past.

Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, in a statement said that the passenger demand for first class flights in dwindling.  The airline has already a strategy in place over the last four years that the First Class would be done away with.

Al Baker gave his statement while taking the delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Qatar Airways has now become the first carrier in the Middle East region to take delivery of the first Dreamliner aircraft.

Aviation industry experts said that with the demand for first class tickets constantly on the wane the airlines across the world are now increasingly opting for aircrafts configured with economy class seats and business class-only seats while taking new deliveries.

Al Baker said that Qatar Airways has decided not to get first class cabin installed on its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, and instead opt for a two-class configuration.
