Sharp fall in Hotels rooms prices to attract London 2012 Olympics visitors

There will be no dearth of cheap hotels in London now as various hotels in the city have drastically reduced the prices of the rooms in an attempt to attract visitors to London 2012 Olympic in a big way.

According to a recent survey, until now the potential visitors were being offered hotel rooms for an average $327.74 (210 Pounds). However, the prices have been lowered and visitors are now being offered attractive hotel deals. The rooms are being presently offered for an average $249.71 (160 Pounds).

The sharp drop of 24 percent in the average price of hotel rooms has come after London 2012 Olympics Games Organizing Committee publicized several unwanted rooms. This step made prominent London hoteliers worrisome, who immediately abandoned their minimum rules for stay and are now allowing visitors to even book one or two nights stays.

Media reports said that the hotel rooms in London are available at average rate for $249.71 (160 Pounds) instead of the earlier $327.74 (210 Pounds) during the Olympics period. Though, the new rates will be disclosed soon.  

The reports further stated that the hoteliers had increased the prices of hotel rooms in the hope that there will be a deluge of visitors to the UK to witness the London 2012 Olympics. This has so far failed to materialize, prompting to offer discount hotels to the visitors in huge numbers.

With the slashing of prices, even luxury hotels will be within the reach of visitors to London 2012 Olympics, and will be available at highly affordable prices. The visitors at the 4-star Britannia International located at Canary Wharf will be able to book a double room for $404.22 (259 Pounds). Earlier, the same double room at this hotel was being offered for $616.47 (395 Pounds).

According to reports, at the 3-star London Ealing Common a double room can be booked for $188.84 (121 Pounds), which was previously priced at around $234.10 (150 Pounds).

The 4-star Radisson New Providence Wharf Hotel, which is three miles away from the Olympic Park, was offering a double room for $927.05 (594 Pounds) in May for the Olympic Games period. However, the hotel is offering the double room during the Olympics within a range of $327.74 (210 Pounds) and $477.57 (306 Pounds).

Travel experts have said that with the lowering of prices there will be a marked increased in the number of visitors during London 2012 Olympics.

The London 2012 Olympics Games Organizing Committee has signed agreements with a large number of hotels to provide more than 40,000 rooms during the Olympic Games period. The above 40,000 rooms represent more than 600,000 room nights during the Games period. At more than 200 hotels, the rooms range from five-star to budget accommodation.
