SriLankan Airlines airfares reduced by 15-20 percent

SriLankan Airlines recently introduced new fare structure aimed at benefiting passengers, including students, migrant workers and pilgrims.

According to media reports, the SriLankan Airlines said in a statement that it has decided to reduce airfares by nearly 15-20 percent for all flights departing from the capital city of Colombo. The airline will also offer special one-way fares for migrant workers and students as well as group fares for pilgrims.

The airline further said that the main objective of bringing in a flexible airfare plan is to offer highly competitive range of airfares for flights departing from Colombo to several of its destinations in its international network.

The SriLankan Airlines said that its new fare structure includes special one-way fares for Sri Lankan migrant workers to key destinations in the Middle East, such as Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Doha. There will also be special one-way fares for students who travel from Colombo to Bangalore, Kuala Lumpur and London.

Besides special one-way fares for migrant workers and students, the SriLankan Airlines is also offering group fares for pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia, India and Thailand.

Business travelers to the Far East will also benefit from the new fare structure. The airline said that the passengers, in addition to special business fares, will be also offered a limousine transfer to their homes or hotels without paying any extra cost in London. Apart from enjoying competitive fares, the passengers can also avail of direct long-haul flights to Europe without any stopovers. The SriLankan Airlines also said that the new Far East fare will be applicable to offline destinations like the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam and Korea.

The SriLankan Airlines further said that the special fare will also be extended to those passengers who travel to offline destinations like Scandinavia, Istanbul, Portugal, Ireland and Greece.

Apart from this, special ‘Prepaid Ticket Advices’ have also been introduced for bringing family members back to Sri Lanka from other destinations. However, the airline said that the overall fare reduction is nearly 15-20 percent. The SriLankan Airlines also said that the tickets at a lower fare will be available to only those passengers who buy them at least two weeks before their travel.
