Virgin Australia plans codeshare pact with Singapore Airlines, business class passengers to benefit
Virgin Australia recently announced it is planning to enter into a codeshare agreement with Singapore Airlines. The airline has set its eyes on the prized European routes and wants to operate flights aimed at benefiting passengers booking business class seats.
The airline in a statement said that its codeshare pact with Singapore Airlines will help it to connect with important European cities like Amsterdam and Paris, in addition to its current European routes where it is operating flights along with its partner Etihad Airways.
According to Virgin Australia, the codeshare agreement with Singapore Airlines will enable its customers taking business class flights with more flexibility as well as an opportunity to gain additional Velocity frequent flyer points.
The codeshare partnership will also help Virgin Australia to compete with Qantas Airways-Air France duo on Paris route via Singapore. Apart from this, the codeshare partnership will also pit Virgin Australia against the rival carrier Malaysia Airlines, which also currently operates flights to both Amsterdam and Paris via Kuala Lumpur.
