Virgin Australia increases free checked baggage allowance
The customers booking Virgin Australia flights tickets and traveling between Abu Dhabi and Australia await good news. A luggage war has seemingly broken out between the Australian carriers and their counterparts in the Middle East.
Virgin Australia recently announced it has increased the complimentary checked baggage allowance for its customers traveling from Australia to Abu Dhabi and beyond.
From now onwards, customers booking Virgin Australia flights would be able to carry up to 30 kg in economy class. The airline has increased the complimentary checked baggage allowance from the previous 23 kg to 30 kg now for flights to Abu Dhabi and beyond from Australia.
UAE’s national flag carrier Etihad Airways has also followed suit and increased the complimentary checked baggage allowance on similar lines as that of Virgin Australia on the same route.
The airline in a statement said that the Virgin Australia Velocity and Etihad Guest frequent flyer programs members would be able to pile on even more. According to reports, Velocity Platinum as well as Etihad Guest Elite members are allowed up to 50 kg of free baggage on board their flights.
