Volaris to add flights from Denver to Chihuahua and Guadalajara

Volaris Airlines intends to add direct flights from Denver to Chihuahua, and Guadalajara. The second largest airline of Mexico has applied for the required permissions to launch these nonstop routes. The airline, which is relatively new in the industry, has big expansion plans.

If all goes well, passengers will soon be able to travel nonstop on Volaris Airlines tickets to the U.S. city of Denver from the two Mexican cities. Its application is pending with the U.S. Department of Transportation and it expects a positive response to come soon. These routes would offer first direct connections from the the Mile High City to Chihuahua, and Guadalajara.

This airline commenced nonstop flights between Denver and Mexico City from December 2012. It plans to expand its service from this city to various other destinations in Mexico from six to eight. The carrier, which launched operations in 2006 in Toluca, has been adding more routes to its itinerary since.

The airline believes Chihuahua is one place where many companies from Colorado have set up base. It looks to tab this opportunity by launching nonstop low-cost service between the two destinations.

The airline currently flies to 29 domestic destinations and 10 international destinations. Its fleet comprises Airbus A319-100, Airbus A320-200. It expects to start receiving the Airbus A320neo by 2018, and had already placed an order for 30 aircrafts.

It operates out of its hubs at Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport, General Abelardo L. Rodríguez International Airport, and Mexico City International Airport.
