New single-day passenger record by WestJet Airline

WestJet Airline recently made a new single-day record for the number of passengers flown during the busy Easter travel weekend. WestJet Airline flights benefited immensely by carrying a record number of passengers in a single day when the Easter travel weekend began.

The airline in a statement said that it flew 54,254 passengers on April 5, 2012, which is a new single-day record. The earlier record was 52,992 passengers flown on February 26, 2012.

WestJet Airline recently announced its passenger traffic result for March this year. The airline reported strong passenger traffic, and said that it enjoyed its second-highest load factor for the month ever.

Providing further details, the airline disclosed that it flew nearly 104,000 more passengers this March as compared to the same month in 2011. Its load factor increased to 86.2 percent from 84.8 percent.

According to the airline, the revenue passenger miles increased 9 percent y-o-y to 1.691 billion, whereas the capacity grew 7 percent to 1.96 billion over the same period.
