WestJet Airlines February 2012 traffic results out

WestJet Airlines recently announced its passenger traffic result for February 2012. WestJet Airlines flights flew slightly fewer passengers this February as indicated in the passenger traffic outcome.

The Calgary-based airline said in a statement that fewer passengers filled its seats in February, which is considered a key period for vacationing university and college students.

The airline succeeded in boosting its capacity since last year, and continued to be optimistic at the passenger traffic results last month, despite a slight dip in its load factor.

WestJet Airlines disclosed that its load factor dipped to 82.7 percent for February this year, a decline from 83.6 percent as compared to the same month in 2011.

The airline, however, stated that its traffic or revenue passenger miles, rose 9.9 percent, while its capacity grew 10.9 percent during the period.

Gregg Saretsky, President and CEO of WestJet Airlines, said that the airline is seemingly pleased with its strong February load factor, given the capacity increases. The forward bookings are also healthy.
