WestJet Airlines launches flights between Toronto and New York

WestJet Airlines recently announced it is launching its flights services between Toronto and New York from July 12, 2012. With the launch of WestJet Airlines flights to New York’s LaGuardia Airport, the airline is aiming at posing a stiff challenge to its rival Air Canada.

The airline in a statement said that it will make extensive efforts to aggressively foray into the $2 billion cross-border business travel market and will try to attract away passengers from Air Canada, the largest airline in the country.

According to the airline, this will be the eighth flight to be added to New York-Toronto route.

Currently, seven daily round-trip flights are being operated between New York and Toronto.

Calgary-based WestJet Airlines was founded in 1996, and currently accounts for more than a third of air traffic in Canada. The carrier operates flights linking Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.
