WestJet Airlines likely to add codeshare partners

Canada’s leading carrier Westjet Airlines recently announced it is planning to add another two or three codeshare partners and looking forward to sign agreements next year.

The addition of new codeshare partners will significantly help boost WestJet Airlines flights network to other destinations.

Gregg Saretsky, Chief Executive of WestJet Airlines, said that the airline is planning to sign some new interline agreements, apart from adding another two or three codeshare partners, next year.

Saretsky said that the airline wants to earn $100 million in codeshare revenue and firmly set a target. He said that codeshare revenue target set by the airline is being closed this year and it is expected to surpass this next year, which is ahead of what the airline had earlier expected.

He said that if the interline and codeshare arrangements are finally worked out then the airline would be able to increase its traffic substantially, which is presently originating mostly outside its flight network.
