WestJet Airlines sign codeshare agreement with China Eastern Airlines

WestJet Airlines recently announced it has signed codeshare pact with China Eastern Airlines.

WestJet Airlines is the leading carrier of Canada, while China Eastern Airlines is among the biggest airlines in mainland China.

China Eastern Airlines will be able to put its code on WestJet Airlines flights operated within North America. The agreement will also allow WestJet Airlines flight code on China Eastern Airlines-operated flights.
Both the carriers have already started distributing and marketing each other’s flights on their respective networks starting from July 1, 2012.

The customers of both the airlines will be able to travel on a single ticket. Apart from this, frequent flyer program members of both the carriers will also be able to earn mileage points on each other’s flight network.  

John MacLeod, WestJet Airlines’ Vice-President - Network Management and Alliances, said that the airline is extremely pleased to enter into a codeshare partnership with China Eastern Airlines, which is of strategic importance to the airline in expanding its reach globally.
