Aer Lingus cancels transatlantic flights as Hurricane Sandy batters New York

Nearly 700 Irish passengers continue to remain stranded in New York as Aer Lingus flights have been cancelled because of Hurricane Sandy.
 
Apart from Aer Lingus, other U.S. carriers like United Airlines and US Airways have also canceled their transatlantic flights.

Currently, New York is bracing itself to face one of the biggest storms ever in recent memory. Hurricane Sandy is being dubbed as superstorm that has devastated the east coast of America.

Aviation authorities in the New York metropolitan area and other east coast cities moved swiftly to cancel hundreds of domestic and transatlantic flights in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy which is menacing towards New York and will be hitting it today.

The customers who booked Aer Lingus flights tickets have been extended an apology by the airline for being affected since yesterday evening. A total of six Aer Lingus flights operated to/from New York have been cancelled today. However, the flights to Boston and Chicago being operated by the airline have so far been unaffected.
