Aer Lingus recently launched its new ‘Discover Your Roots’ package aimed at helping travelers to trace their Irish heritage during their visit to Ireland.
The ‘Discover Your Roots’ is a 6-night package, which includes one night stay at Dublin’s The Shelbourne Hotel, a one-hour private consultation with the Genealogy Butler, 5-night stay at standard bed and breakfasts (hundreds of options to choose from), standard car rental for a week, and roundtrip flights to Dublin on Aer Lingus.
For those taking flights to Dublin from New York, the airline is offering packages starting from US$899*. Those planning to travel from Boston can book packages starting from US$999*, while those who plan to take flights to Dublin from Orlando can book the packages from US$1,089*. The packagesare being offered up till March 31, 2012.
The travelers availing the package are required to undertake some basic research themselves regarding their Irish ancestors before embarking on their ‘Discover Your Roots’ trip. Before 2-3 weeks of their departure, the travelers will be required to fill out a questionnaire providing their entire details, including the name of their Irish-born ancestor, year and place of birth, name of ancestor’s parents, and other related details that will help to trace their Irish heritage. The filled-out questionnaire will be ultimately submitted to the Genealogy Butler of The Shelbourne Hotel, Helen Kelly, who is an experienced and professional genealogist. The ‘Discover Your Roots’ package in fact provides an excellent opportunity to those who are interested and serious enough in tracing out their Irish heritage.
