Aeromexico to lease two more Boeing 787-8s for long-haul routes

Aeromexico flights on long-haul routes will be further bolstered with the airline deciding to lease two more Boeing 787-8 aircrafts from a lease firm.

The company Grupo Aeromexico said in a statement that with the leasing of two more Boeing 787-8s from International Lease Finance Corp, the airline’s dominance of the long-haul market will be reinforced.

Andres Conesa, CEO of Grupo Aeromexico, said that the addition of two Boeing 787 aircrafts to the airline’s current fleet of five is surely positive news for the company, which is on an expansion plan to serve international markets.

Conesa said that the leased aircrafts will be ultimately replacing Boeing 767 aircraft, and will be deployed on the airline’s long-haul route.

Currently, Aeromexico operates six 767-200ERs and two 767-300ERs. The airline under its new fleet strategy wants to add more owned aircraft to its mostly leased fleet until about half of its aircraft are purchased.
