Air Canada into codeshare agreement with Eyptair

Air Canada and Egyptair recently signed a free sale codeshare agreement aimed at bolstering Egyptair’s connections to North America, via Europe.

The airline said in a statement that the agreement has already come into effect beginning March 29, 2012.

The agreement will allow Egyptair to add its code on Air Canada flights between Cairo and Toronto via London, as well as between Cairo and Montreal via London.

On a reciprocal basis, Air Canada has also added its code on Egyptair flights between Toronto and Cairo via London and Frankfurt, and also between Montreal and Cairo via London and Frankfurt.

Both Air Canada and Egyptair are also members of Star Alliance.

Frequent flyer customers of both the carriers will be able to accrue and redeem miles on the codeshare flights.

Capt Hossam Kamal, Egyptair Holding chairman and CEO, said signing codeshare agreement with Egyptair, expanding network in the North American continent, inaugurating new routes and increasing frequencies – all comes within Egyptair’s strategy of expansion.

Kamal also said that with Egypt being the gateway to the Middle East and Africa, Egyptair’s main strategy is also aimed at encouraging tourists from the North American continent to this country.
