Allegiant Air ends seasonal service to Myrtle Beach

Allegiant Air has ended its seasonal flights to Myrtle Beach which was being operated from the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. The seasonal service ended on September 18, 2013. The airline however announced that it will be resuming its seasonal service from April next year.

Allegiant Air has also stopped operating its seasonal flights between Myrtle Beach and Fort Wayne. The airline also ended service to Allentown and Youngstown on September 18 this year.

Even as fall gradually approaches, other airlines are on course to reduce flights to Myrtle Beach. Media reports said that Spirit Airlines has ended its flights from Myrtle Beach to Charleston as well as between Dallas and Plattsburgh. Spirit Airlines is carrying about half the passengers to Myrtle Beach every year.

Spirit Airlines has already indicated that it will be stopping its seasonal service to Philadelphia, Niagara Falls, Latrobe-Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago and Baltimore-Washington, which is being currently operated out of Myrtle Beach. Spirit Airlines presently maintains a year-round service to Fort Lauderdale, New York (LaGuardia), Boston and Atlantic City from Myrtle Beach. Most of the carriers curtain or stop operating flights to Myrtle Beach after the summer season.

Meanwhile, in yet another development Allegiant Air is all set to become a new major airline from Manhattan Airport. The city authorities are negotiating a deal with Allegiant Air in this regard and a decision will soon be taken. Manhattan Airport presently has the only contract with American Eagle airlines. The contract with American Eagle is to end soon, thus requiring a new airline to soon take over the flight operations from here.
