British Airways Olympics menu unveiled

British Airways recently introduced the Olympics menu to be served to 3 million passengers taking British Airways flights during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The airline in a statement said that the dishes have been inspired by menus created by British Airways’ predecessor BOAC when the Olympics Games were held in London in 1948.

The airline disclosed that a total of four menus for passengers booking British Airways flights tickets for World Traveller, World Traveller Plus, Club World and First Class, to be served on long-haul flights from London from July.

The menu to be served in first class includes a starter of rillette of mackerel dressed on a pickled cucumber carpaccio with sour dough croutes, followed by a main of potted braised beef, with a potato and horseradish topping served with hispy cabbage, baby carrots and roasted shallots with a rich jus. The dessert to be served will be a chilled chocolate fondant with a salted caramel liquid center, caramel sauce and spun sugar topped with hazelnuts.

Passengers making British flight reservations in business class will be served with a starter choice of golden beetroot, with goat's cheese and elderflower dressing, or (depending on the month), smoked salmon and Cornish crab roulade with servruga caviar gribiche sauce and summer cress salad (July), smoked salmon tartar with pickled cucumber ribbons radish salad and crème fraiche (August), or Gin & Tonic cured smoked salmon (August).

According to British Airways, the main course will be fish pie using sustainable sourced hake, dressed with Parmesan pomme puree and a warm tartar sauce, and dessert will be lemon curd cheesecake with raspberry and basil compote.

The regular British Airways menus will also be available for the passengers during this period.

The airline will be unveiling the menus to be served in World Traveller and World Traveller Plus in May.
