China Southern Airlines buying 40 Boeing 737s to expand international routes

China Southern Airlines flights operations will be expanded and several international routes launched.

China’s leading carrier China Southern Airlines recently announced its subsidiary Xiamen Airlines is purchasing 40 Boeing 737 aircrafts worth $3.4 billion eying expansion of its network on various global routes.
China Southern Airlines is the biggest carrier in the country in terms of passenger numbers.

The airline in a statement said that the Boeing 737 aircrafts it is acquiring for its subsidiary would be delivered between 2016 and 2019.
China Southern Airlines stated that the Boeing 737 aircrafts it is acquiring will help the company to expand its flight network internationally.

Xiamen Airlines is currently based in eastern Fujian province. China Southern Airlines along with its subsidiary is competing with other domestic Chinese carriers to expand their flight operations and introduce various international routes.

By adding overseas routes to their flight network, domestic Chinese carriers are trying to avoid competing with fast growing high speed rail network in the country.
