Copa emerges second best airline at 2014 Travel Awards

Copa Airlines has good news for its travelers. The flagship carrier of Panama was adjudged the second best airline at the recently concluded award ceremony. These awards were powered by a survey conducted by J.D. Power. The survey focused on all the airlines that operate within the Americas.

The Panama City based airline commenced operations from the year 1947. It has since been offering flights to various destinations across the world. Operating out of its hub in Tocumen International Airport, the airline flies to at least 65 cities worldwide. Its fleet of 90 aircrafts belongs to the Boeing and Embraer families. Mostly, it uses the Boeing 737 planes to fly to its destinations. It provides more than 310 scheduled passenger flight services to various cities located in 29 countries across the globe.

A popular South American airline, some of the cities served include Boston, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Guadalajara, Nassau, Medellin, Punta Cana, Sao Paulo, and Havana. Its focus cities include El Dorado International Airport, La Aurora International Airport, Juan Santamaría International Airport, and Augusto C. Sandino International Airport.

On the hand, the airline has more good news for its travelers. Copa Holdings, the parent company of this carrier as well as Copa Airlines Colombia declared that the year 2013 was profitable for its operations. It reported a net income of $428.2 million up 31.2 percent on a year-over-year basis. Its revenues for the above mentioned period also recorded an upward movement of 16 percent to be at $2.61 billion. The operating profit increased 28.8 percent to be at $518.5 million. The passenger traffic too rose 16.3 percent to be at 14.53 billion RPM.
