Frontier Airlines cutting Denver-Newport News service in spring

Newport News would see curtailing of Frontier Airlines flights from Denver this spring. Frontier Airlines recently announced it has decided to cut its daily nonstop flights services between Newport News and Denver to three days per week in the spring.

The airline in a statement said that direct flights services between Denver International Airport and Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport were launched in 2010. Initially, Frontier Airlines started twice-weekly flights between the two destinations. However, the service was later on expanded to a daily operation in May.

According to Newport News airport officials, Frontier Airlines flights were mostly popular during the summer months flying to their full capacity.

However, Republic Airways Holding Inc., the owner of Frontier Airlines, decided to curtail the daily service to three weekly flights in the spring because of the shortage of aircrafts. The company has now decided to redeploy a smaller aircraft to operate the service between Denver and Newport News. The curtailed service would be operational from May 1, 2013.
