Frontier Airlines service makes impact in Sioux Falls

Dan Letellier, Executive Director of Sioux Falls Regional Airport, recently disclosed that a record for boardings in 2012 has been set by the Sioux Falls Regional Airport. This record was set even though the airport was closed on four weekends because of a runway renovation project.

Letellier said that 453,076 passengers flew out of the Sioux Falls Regional Airport last year. In 2011, the airport had reported 430,756 boardings.

The starting of Frontier Airlines flights services again in Sioux Falls made an impact during the first half of the year, said Letellier. Frontier Airlines re-entered the Sioux Falls market in July 2011 with the sale of Frontier Airlines flight tickets to Denver.

According to Letellier, the percentage of growth in the first half of the year was in the double digits, which then tapered into single digits.
Among other carriers operating flights out of Sioux Falls include United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Allegiant Air and American Airlines.
