Frontier Airlines to end its only direct flight to Milwaukee from Omaha June 1

Frontier Airlines flights will no longer provide succor to the travelers from Omaha to Milwaukee, which has so far been a popular connecting point for those traveling east.

Frontier Airlines recently announced it will stop operating its twice daily nonstop flights from Omaha to Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport starting from June 1, 2012. Currently, the airline operates flights between the two cities with the help of 50-seat regional seats.

The Denver-based low-cost carrier also indicated that it will be ending its nonstop service between Milwaukee and four other cities, including Columbus, Indianapolis, Nashville and Pittsburg.

Chris Martin, Director of Operations at Eppley Airfield, said that though the Omaha-Milwaukee route is quite popular, but it is now no longer cost effective for the airline because of the ever rising jet fuel prices. He said that the 50-seat aircraft operating between the two cities isn’t most profitable anymore.

Martin, however, said that travelers from Omaha have other options as well. There are other airlines as well as routes to choose from to reach the East Coast.
