Hawaiian Airlines daily nonstop Honolulu-Fukuoka flights launched

Hawaiian Airlines recently announced the launch of its new flights to Japan. The newly-launched Hawaiian Airlines flights between Honolulu and Fukuoka will be operated nonstop daily.

The inaugural flight from Honolulu to Fukuoka followed pre-boarding festivities featuring Hawaiian music and hula, a performance honoring the Japanese culture, a traditional Hawaiian blessing, and the presenting of fresh flower lei to all passengers.

Hawaiian Airlines in a statement said that Fukuoka is the third Japanese destination and the fourth in Asia to be launched in the past 17 months. The other three destinations in Asia where the airline launched the flights, include Tokyo (November 2010), Seoul (January 2011), and Osaka (July 2011).

Mark Dunkerley, President and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines, said that the new Honolulu-Fukuoka service will provide people throughout the entire Kyushu region a convenient and direct access to the Hawaiian Islands.

The new Honolulu-Fukuoka route will be adding approximately 100,000 air seats annually from Hawaii’s second-largest visitor market in Japan. The flights on this new route will be generating an estimated $156 million in visitor spending and $17 million in tax revenue annually, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
