Iberia Airlines employees to go on six days of strike at Barcelona Airport

Iberia Airlines flights will again be grounded for six days as its employees have announced they will be going on strike. The decision of the strike has thrown the flight operations into turmoil bringing the airline in further financial stress.

Spanish carrier Iberia Airline’s owner International Consolidated Airlines Group (also known as IAG) has announced it is bracing up to tackle the crisis posed by the employees of Iberia Airlines once again. The company said that ongoing conflict has threatened to put the future of the airline at stake.

The company said that the employees of Iberia Airlines at Barcelona’s El Prat Airport have decided to go on six days of strikes. According to Iberia Airlines, the strikes will be held on six different dates – July 27, August 3, August 10, August 17, August 24 and August 31, 2012. The decision of the strike was made by the UFG labor union.

The strikes are being held after Iberia Airlines failed to honor its contractual agreements because of outsourcing tasks, which were until now carried by Iberia Airline’s own staff.
