Jet Airways reports 20% growth in UAE sector

Jet Airways recently announced that its flight operations in the UAE sector have witnessed a significant 20% growth. India’s leading private carrier Jet Airways started its flight operations in the Gulf in 2008 and has since been reporting a positive growth year after year.

Ratan Ratnakar, VP - Market Development and Pricing, Gulf and MEA, said that Jet Airways had tried to remain competitive as much as it can despite aggressive competition from both the Indian and foreign carriers.

Ratnakar said that Jet Airway’s UAE operations have seen a 20% growth between April and September 2011 as compared to the same period during 2010. The growth has been in the face of stiff competition from both low cost carriers as well as full service airlines.

Jet Airways currently operates flight services to 10 airports in the Gulf and MEA region with 22 daily departures.

The airline is presently operating daily flights to Kochi from Sharjah. Among other destinations in the Middle East being served by Jet Airways includes Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Dammam, Dubai, Riyadh, Bahrain, Doha, Jeddah and Kuwait.

Jet Airways has also announced that it will start flights to Thiruvananthapuram from Sharjah from October 30, 2011 in order to boost capacity in the UAE-India sector.
