Jet Airways tickets re-booking, cancellation hiked by $3.88

Passengers taking Jet Airways flights will now have to spend more on their air tickets. They will also have to bear more cost when re-booking or cancelling their tickets.

India’s largest private carrier recently hiked charges for re-booking or cancelling tickets by $3.88 (INR 200).

Passengers were being charged $14.57 (INR 750) for re-booking or cancelling tickets, which has now been raised to $18.46 (INR 950).

The hike has come only less than a month after the airline increased charges for excess baggage. The hike became effective on April 1, 2012.

The reason cited for the increase in its excess baggage charges was the ever rising jet fuel cost. The airline had increased the charges from $2.91 (INR 150) per kg of excess baggage to $3.88 (INR 200) per kg.

The airline has, however, failed to cite any reason regarding the recent hike in charges for re-booking and cancellation of tickets.

The hike in re-booking and cancellation charges is being opposed by air travelers, as they say it will be an extra burden on their pockets.
