JetBlue Airways interested in flying to Newport News

JetBlue Airways flights next destination may likely be to Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport. The airline recently conducted a poll on its Facebook page asking its passengers where to operate flights next.

The passengers overwhelming voted for Newport News. According to the poll results, Newport News emerged as the top destination garnering 456 votes. The next preferred destination was Hawaii which emerged second with 308 votes, and was followed by Islip with 190 votes. A total of 50 US cities were listed for the polls.

Ken Spirito, Executive Director at the Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport, said that the poll was conducted alone by the airline. He further said that after receiving the news that AirTran Airways had stopped flying from March 9, 2012, the Newport News airport is trying its best to get JetBlue Airways start its flight operations out of here.

Spirito further said that the results of Facebook poll also indicate that even JetBlue Airways is also showing interest in starting its flight operations out of Newport News.

JetBlue Airways held the poll as Frontier Airlines recently resumed its service to Newport News.
